On behalf of IPWEA-QNT, I am pleased to share an important update about our organisation’s leadership and direction. Following a recent organisational review, we are making strategic changes to enhance our ability to serve the public works sector effectively.
I am delighted to announce that Jesper Jensen has been promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Jesper joined IPWEA-QNT in August 2023 and has made significant contributions to the organisation in a remarkably short time. His extensive background as a civil/structural engineer with 30 years of experience in local government, consulting, technical management, and building/concrete products manufacturing has been invaluable.
Since joining IPWEA-QNT, Jesper has spearheaded key initiatives that have strengthened our technical services and professional development offerings. These achievements include:
Overhauling our professional development programs to better meet the needs of members and the sector.
Leading several critical updates and new technical products, including:
Full update to our Standard Drawings
2nd Edition of the Lower Order Road Design Guide
Launch of the new CAD and Survey Standards
Development of our new Resilient Road Infrastructure Guide, which will be published this year.
In his new role, Jesper will oversee the day-to-day operations of IPWEA-QNT and will report directly to me as CEO. His expertise, leadership, and vision will undoubtedly drive our organisation to new heights as we continue to deliver innovative and impactful services to our members.
At the same time, we would like to welcome James Breene to the IPWEA-QNT team as our Membership and Communications Officer.
James’ experience in member relations and communications roles highlighted him an ideal candidate for the position where he will manage and deliver our member relations experience and promotion of member initiatives and services.
His extensive skillset and experience from similar roles in government, not-for-profit and corporate sectors, combined with qualifications including as a Master of Business majoring in Integrated Marketing Communication, will enable him to implement communications strategies that keep stakeholders up to date on our latest news, events and services.
James will also provide administrative support to IPWEA-QNT’s Knowledge Centre (library of member resources) and Registered Professional Engineering Queensland (RPEQ) application and approval processes. Jesper and James' appointments represent a significant step forward in IPWEA-QNT's capability and we thank our members for their ongoing support and commitment.
Best regards,
Brett Wright
