When closing out a project, the mechanism for dealing with defects under the contract will be critical to ensure the works can be used as intended.  This webinar will explore the contractual and statutory liability and will touch on:

  • utilising the contractual notices and processes;

  • the interplay with security when practical completion or final completion is achieved;

  • obligations under the QBCC Act;

  • non-conforming building products; and

  • insurance considerations when dealing with defects and policy requirements.

Alex Power, Special Counsel

Alex specialises in construction claims dispute resolution.  He acts for principals, contractors and superintendents.  He provides advice for the duration of construction contracts including disputes arising regarding payment, time, or the scope or quality of work. Alex has over 20 years’ experience in litigation and has acted in many Supreme Court proceedings for principal and contractor clients in respect of defects claims in infrastructure, roads and buildings.
